Tasting notes: Passion fruit, honey, walnut
Iris, Lourdes, and Ana Isabel Alvarado each inherited a plot of coffee trees from their grandfather, who was a coffee farmer and one of the early members of Capucas, which is itself one of the first coops in Honduras. Capucas has had its own microlot competition for nearly 15 years (which Dan judged many times) and, this year, the sisters (hermanas in Spanish) Alvarado all rated in the top 10 so they decided to combine their coffees for a unique offering. In all the years Dan has been working with Capucas and judging, he's gotten to know Iris very well in her role as lead cupper and QC manager for the coop so when we found out about this special coffee, we were delighted to snap it up and share it with you.
