Tasting notes - Floral and syrupy with notes of strawberry jam and cherry preserves.
This coffee is produced by a group in central Rwanda, called Abateraninkunga ba Sholi, or "Sholi" for short. The name meaning "mutual assistance" started as a women's coffee producing group in 2008, and has grown into a cooperative with half female membership, and two of five board members being women.
They're producing outstanding quality for such a new organization, and creating a platform for community development as well. The cooperative has started programs that include a health clinic, bee-keeping, and cattle diversification, using premiums from coffee production and partnerships with other NGO groups.
