El Salvador Familia Mendez
Notes: Smooth and creamy with notes of milk chocolate and caramel
Roast: Medium
We're excited to launch a brand-new roast from El Salvador, hailing from the Mendez family farm. This rich medium roast is creamy and smooth, with notes of milk chocolate and caramel.
Many people love our El Salvador Finca San Francisco coffee, and it just so happens that these beans are grown on the farm directly next door! Whereas Finca San Francisco is a honey process, Familia Mendez is a washed process, so you may notice that these beans are slightly lighter in texture while remaining pretty similar in terms of flavor.
Dan has know the Mendez family for many years, and was introduced to their farm via his former co-worker, Mayita Mendez. Mayita's late father grew up in Guatemala, went to college in El Salvador, and left to the US in the 80s. While in the US, he grew to prominence as one of the foremost pediatric AIDs researchers of the 90s.
The Mendez farm is unique in terms of their relationship with their workers; some employees have been working on the farm for over 20 years. This is a testament to the Mendez's commitment to their community and to fair labor practices.
We recommend using this bean for drip coffee, but as always it will be delicious with whatever your brewing method of choice is.
