Tasting notes:

Fruity and creamy with notes of strawberry and cherry syrup

If you're a long-time Bird and Bear coffee drinker, you may recognize this storied Ethiopian bean.

In 1991, after the death of her husband, Bedhatu Jibicho took over her family's 84 acre farm, and became a member of the YCFCU (Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmer's Cooperative Union).

In 2013, Bedhatu was recognized as a model farmer. Because of the unique quality of this coffee, Bedhatu started a pilot program to prepare and sell her own coffee independently from the co-op, and later launched her own export business with her sons.

We feel very lucky to have crossed paths with Bedhatu Jibicho and her tremendous farm and coffee.

Bedhatu sadly passed away this year at the age of 104, and the coffee we're now offering is the last harvest under her stewardship.

She leaves the farm and operation in good hands, as the business will now be taken over by her sons.

Ethiopia Bedhatu Jibicho Natural is a natural process coffee, in which the cherries are floated and then dried on raised beds, turned and sorted by hand daily,  for approximately 20 days.

We recommend this coffee for pour over or espresso, but it shines with whatever brew method you prefer.

This coffee will be very limited in supply, so don't hesitate to try it while we've got it!
